It occurred a few times, randomly, as I was watching TV (which I use my system for). The crackling wasn't loud, and it continued even as I turned the amp's volume knob all the way down. Currently I noticed that a clicking noise, simlilar to when the hazard lights are on, is coming from the center of the dashboard, sounds like behind the radio. If you are using an amplifier or a loud speaker this may be fixed by running a balanced cable instead or an unbalanced cable. If you go to purchase one this is what you want to look for:
